RC Bullion's Products

You can choose from gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion products. Types of investment metals available include coins, bars, and other bullion products.

Gold Coins

Options include:

  • Proof Gold Eagle
  • Proof Gold Buffalo
  • 99.999% Gold Maple Leaf
  • Chinese Gold Panda

Gold Eagle Proof coins contain 91.67% gold and come in one-tenth, one-quarter, one-half, and one-ounce options. They are collector versions of the United States Mint bullion coins. The US has been issuing them since 1986.

When the coin celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2021, it received security upgrades and a slight redesign. They now have reeded edges to prevent counterfeiting. Before 2021, the reverse portrayed an eagle flying over a nest that had an eagle and hatchlings.

This changed to an eagle's portrait in 2021. RC Bullion has the older version displayed on their website, but it's not clear which year you'll receive it.

There's a special 2020 Gold Eagle Proof coin as well that was released in honor of the end of World War II's 75th anniversary. It features a V75 privy mark in the shape of the Rainbow Pool at Washington DC's World War II Memorial.

The Gold Buffalo Proof coin was the first 99.99% gold-proof coin from the US Mint. It's also a collector version of the Gold Buffalo Bullion. The US Mint has been issuing this coin since 2006.

The Canadian Royal Mint started minting Gold Maple Leaf coins in 1979, but they had a gold content of 99.9% back then. In 1989, the Canadian Royal Mint increased its purity to 99.99%. Gold Maple Leafs of 99.999% were issued in 2007, although an experimental version of this purity was released in 2005.

New designs for the Chinese Gold Panda, a 99.99% collector coin, come out regularly. The demand for these coins is high in China with many of them becoming more valuable years later. You could get a 10x return. The 1995 one-ounce Chinese Gold Panda was $400 at the time of its release and is now over $4,000.

Silver Coins

Options include:

  • Chinese Silver Panda
  • Proof Silver Eagle
  • Morgan Silver Dollar

Similar to the Chinese Gold Panda, the Chinese Silver Panda changes its reverse design each year. The obverse features The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and the issue year. These investment coins contain 99.9% silver.

You have options in silver Eagle Proof coins too. They are 99.9% silver and have been produced since 1986.

In 2021, the US Mint updated the design to portray an eagle carrying an oak branch as if it's about to land and add the branch to a nest. Like the Gold Eagle Proof, the Silver Eagle Proof started to receive reeded edges in 2021.

The Morgan Silver Dollar has been in such high demand that the US had to suspend mint of the coins several times because merchants were holding onto them instead of circulating them. This coin was originally minted in 1794 as the official silver US dollar coin.

Merchants, however, kept the coins because of their heavier weight. The US suspended its mint in 1804. It wasn't until 1836 that the US decided to try again with a lighter weight. Banks and merchants still hogged the coins, so the public rarely saw them in circulation.

In 1878, the US passed legislation that promised to mint two million silver dollars a month to solve this problem. Ironically, this led to an oversupply by 1893. The government melted over 270 million Morgan Silver Dollars to reduce its supply and fund the war going on at the time.

Another interesting aspect of the Morgan Silver Dollar history is it was highly valuable in the Old West days too. Stagecoach robbers were after the silver coins. Cowboys also used them in poker games.

Platinum Coins

Options include:

  • Platinum Maple Leaf
  • Australian Platinum Platypus

Platinum Maple Leaf coins are made of 99.95% platinum and have been minted since 1986. There was a pause in production from 2002 to 2009.

So far, three different Queen Elizabeth II portraits have been used for the obverse. She is depicted as a 39-year-old on the 1988 and 1989 coins, a 64-year-old on the 1990–2002 mints, and a 79-year-old on the 2009+ mints.

Australian Platinum Platypus coins, issued by the Perth Mint, contain 99.95% platinum. They have a legal tender status in Australia and have been issued since 2011. A platypus swimming in water is on the reverse, and Queen Elizabeth II takes up the obverse.

RC Bullion offers the Canadian Maple Leaf palladium investment coin, which features a maple leaf on the reverse and an updated portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.

Canada began issuing these Maple Leaf coins in 2005. They contain 99.95% palladium.

Other investment coins that you can buy from RC Bullion:

  • St. Gaudens
  • Swiss Franc
  • British Sovereign
  • Peace Dollar

One of the downsides of buying from this company is they don't provide descriptions of their coins. You would have to research them if you're not familiar with investment coins.

They do, however, show pictures of the reverse and obverse sides of the coins. Another drawback is you don't know from the website what years you'll get when you place an order.

RC Bullion Storage and Delivery

You must read and sign a five-page shipping and account agreement to order precious metals from RC Bullion. This outlines the terms of doing business with them, such as how deliveries are handled and their cancellation policy. You can only cancel an order within 24 hours of receiving a written trade confirmation.

RC Bullion promises to use only nationally-recognized and reputable delivery services. All orders, unless otherwise specified, are delivered to the address you wrote on your form.

If you don't receive a delivery, then you need to promptly inform RC Bullion through a written notice. RC Bullion will check with the delivery service if your package was lost or never delivered. Upon confirmation, the company promises to provide a refund or resend the order within 60 days.

Under the shipping and account agreement, you agree to inspect your precious metals to confirm that they are real and of a quality that you're satisfied with. If there's a problem with your order, then you need to provide written notice within 15 days of the delivery.

RC Bullion will either replace or refund your order. Don't remove the item from its original holder because this would disqualify you from a replacement or refund.

RC Bullion's limited warranty doesn't cover damage or loss of precious metals after a customer has already received them. It guarantees that the precious metals you receive will be of the type and grade of precious metals that you placed in your order.

Products are graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America, Professional Coin Grading Service, ANACS, and/or any other grading service of similar standing.

Repurchases aren't guaranteed, as required by California law. RC Bullion, however, has a policy of offering repurchases based on the market's conditions and fluctuations. The price that the company offers you is only valid at that moment because of changing market conditions.

You could receive a different quote hours later. RC Bullion also doesn't guarantee that the price they offer you would be the same as what they pay to buy bullion products from wholesalers or other sellers. You are allowed to sell your bullion products to other parties besides RC Bullion.

Because the ideal holding period for maximizing your gains from bullion products is 3–10 years, RC Bullion usually doesn't offer a repurchase until you have held for at least three years.

If you buy precious metals through your IRA or 401(k), RC Bullion stores them in a fully insured depository that's under your control.
